KIDS BALANCE BOARD IN DAYCARE
Discovering movement, finding balance and growing through play – the Mini Balance Board has become an integral part of everyday life at the Kindertraum-Haus daycare. The children use it with great enthusiasm, while the care team values its versatility.
In this interview, the daycare management explains how the balance board supports motor skills, concentration and social interaction – and why it is also a real benefit at home.

How do the children respond to the Mini Balance Board in daily use?
The children naturally reach for the balance board again and again. They are curious, try it out and quickly get the hang of it. During playful practice at daycare, they support one another and have lots of fun moving together.
What developments do you observe – motor, social or cognitive?
By helping each other during play, the children strengthen their social skills almost effortlessly. At the same time, their balance improves – they move with greater confidence, coordination and self-assurance.
From what age do you use the board – and which groups enjoy it most?
At our daycare, we use the balance board from the toddler group onwards – from around 2 years of age. Most children really start enjoying it from around age 3, when their motor skills are more developed. It is especially popular with older children in the pre-kindergarten and after-school groups.
This makes the Mini Balance Board a versatile movement tool for different age levels – from first balance exercises to creative movement play.

What does the care team particularly appreciate in group settings?
The balance board is easy and flexible to integrate into daily daycare routines. It requires very little space and is always ready to use.
Especially in restless moments, it helps children regain focus and calm. Through movement, they return to balance – physically and emotionally.
Would you also recommend the Mini Balance Board for home use?
Yes, absolutely – especially for children’s rooms.
It’s important that children are guided at the beginning so they learn to use the board safely and at their own pace. Afterwards, it can easily be used independently.
At home, motor skills, concentration, body awareness and balance are also playfully encouraged.
How does the board support your philosophy of movement and free play?
At our daycare, movement and free play are central to our educational approach. Children have opportunities to move throughout the day – through songs with movements in morning circles, daily outdoor activities or in the movement room. We place great value on a healthy balance between active phases and moments of rest.
The Mini Balance Board is an ideal addition: it supports motor development, strengthens body awareness and helps children calm down and recharge.
Is the board suitable for modern family apartments with limited space?
Absolutely. The board requires very little space and can be stored easily – for example in the included cotton bag or on the matching stand.
This makes it ideal for smaller apartments and keeps it ready to use at all times.
